Usage of Ala Hist IR

Ala Hist IR is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Ala Hist IR is used to treat runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.

Ala Hist IR may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Ala Hist IR side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Ala Hist IR may cause serious side effects. Stop using Ala Hist IR and call your doctor at once if you have:

  • fast or uneven heart rate;
  • mood changes;
  • tremor, seizure (convulsions);
  • easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness;
  • feeling short of breath; or
  • little or no urination.
  • Common side effects of Ala Hist IR may include:

  • drowsiness;
  • dry mouth, nose, or throat;
  • constipation;
  • blurred vision; or
  • feeling restless or excited (especially in children).
  • This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

    Before taking Ala Hist IR

    Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use Ala Hist IR if you have other medical conditions, especially:

  • asthma or chronic bronchitis;
  • glaucoma; o
  • an enlarged prostate and urination problems.
  • It is not known whether Ala Hist IR will harm an unborn baby. Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant.

    It is not known whether dexbrompheniramine passes into breast milk or if it could cause side effects in the nursing baby. Antihistamines may also slow breast milk production. Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are breast-feeding.
