Usage of Isopto Tears

There are many brands and forms of ocular lubricant available and not all are listed on this leaflet.

Isopto Tears is used in adults to relieve burning, irritation, and discomfort caused by dry eyes.

Isopto Tears may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Isopto Tears side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using Isopto Tears and call your doctor if you have:

  • severe burning, stinging, or eye irritation after using the medicine;
  • eye pain; or
  • vision changes.
  • Common side effects of Isopto Tears may include:

  • mild eye burning or irritation;
  • itching or redness of your eyes;
  • watery eyes;
  • blurred vision; or
  • sensitivity to light.
  • This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

    Before taking Isopto Tears

    You should not use an Isopto Tears if you are allergic to it. This medicine will not treat or prevent an eye infection.

    Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use Isopto Tears if you have any type of infection in your eye.

    Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

    What other drugs will affect Isopto Tears

    Medicine used in the eyes is not likely to be affected by other drugs you use. But many drugs can interact. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
