Povidone iodine vaginal is used to provide temporary relief from minor vaginal irritation, soreness, or itching.

Povidone iodine vaginal should not be used to prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted disease.

Povidone iodine vaginal may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Povidone iodine vaginal side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

povidone iodine vaginal may cause serious side effects. Stop using povidone iodine vaginal and call your doctor at once if you have:

ongoing vaginal pain or soreness;

itching, swelling, or redness;

vaginal dryness; or

severe irritation or burning.

Less serious side effects may be more likely, and you may have none at all.
