Aciclovir Meyer is indicated in the following cases:

  • The treatment of acute herpes infection (shingles), eye shingles, pneumonia caused by adult herpes zoster. Infection with herpes virus. The first, acyclovir is converted into Acyclovir monophosphate thanks to the enzyme of the virus, thymidinkinase. Then transform into Acyclovir Diphosphate and Triphosphate by some other cell enzymes. Acyclovir Triphosphate inhibits the synthesis of the virus DNA and the multiplication of the virus without affecting the metabolism of normal cells.

    Acyclovir has the strongest effect on the Herpes Simplex Type 1 virus (HSV-1), inferior to the Herpes Simplex Type 2 virus (HSV-2), Varicella Zoster virus (VZV), the weakest effect on Cytomegovirus (CMV).
