Indications
Acyclovir Stella Cream is used to treat the herpes simplex virus infection in the skin including lip herpes, the genital herpes onset and relapse.
Pharmacokological
Acyclovir is a similar substance Nucleosid purin with inhibited activity in vitro and Vivo virus Herpes Simplex Type 1 (HSV-1), Typ 2 (HSV-2) and Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV).
The inhibitory activity of acyclovir is highly selected by its affinity for thymidine kinase (TK) enzymes encoded by HSV and VZV. This enzyme converts acyclovir into acyclovir monophosphate, a substance similar to nucleotid. Monophosphate is transformed into diphosphate by the guiselate kinase of the cell and into triphosphate by some cell enzymes. In vitro, Acyclovir Triphosphate stops the DNA copy of herpes virus. This process occurs in 3 ways:
Inhibit competition with virus polymerase DNA.
cohesion and end the DNA chain of the virus.
Viral polymerase DNA.
Acyclovir's HSV activity is better than VZV's resistance due to its phosphorylation more effectively by the virus's enzyme.pharmacokinetics
The whole body absorption of acyclovir is very low in skin so the blood concentration in the blood is below the detection limit. Therefore, the pharmacokinetic parameters of acyclovir cannot be used. Acyclovir is used not toxic to the skin because the drug does not access the circulatory system.
