Uses

Indications

Augmentin SR is indicated in the following cases:

Short -term treatment of bacterial infections caused by bacteria sensitive to Augmentin SR in the following positions: respiratory infections such as pneumonia sufficient in the community, exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and acute sinusitis, typically streptococcus pneumoniae (including S.PNEMONIAE resistant penicillin) Catnrhalis and Streptococcus Pyogenes.

Pharmacokological

resistance to many antibiotics caused by bacterial yeasts, which destroy antibiotics before the drug can act on bacteria. The Clavulanate component in Augmentin prevents this defense mechanism by inhibiting beta-lactamase yeasts, thus causing bacteria to be sensitive to amoxicillin's fast bactericidal effects at the concentration achieved in the body. Clavulanate itself has a mild antibacterial effect, however, when combined with amoxicillin as in augmentin will create an antibiotic with wide antibacterial spectrum, widely used in the hospital.

pharmacokinetics

Both components are well absorbed and fast through oral. Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid absorbs well when taken at the beginning of the meal. After drinking, bioavailability of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid is approximately 70%. The characteristics of two plasma components are the same and the time of reaching the peak of plasma (TMAX) of each component is nearly 1 hour.

About 25% of total clavulanic acid in plasma and 18% amoxicillin total in plasma binding to protein. The apparent distribution volume is approximately 0.3 - 0.4L/kg for amoxicillin and 0.2L/kg for clavulanic acid.

Amoxicillin eliminates part of the urine in the form of inactivated penicilloic acid with an equivalent of 10 to 25% of the initial dose. Clavulanic acid metabolizes many people and eliminates through urine and feces and in the form of CO2 in exhaled gas.

The main elimination of amoxicillin is through the kidneys, while clavulanic acid eliminates the mechanism through both the kidneys and external kidneys.

Instructions on how to handle ADR

When experiencing side effects of the drug, it is necessary to stop using and notify the doctor or go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.

    Warnings

Before using the drug you need to read the instructions carefully and refer to the information below.

    Contraindicated

Augmentin SR is contraindicated in the following cases:

Sensitive to any ingredients of the drug.

History of hypersensitivity to beta lactam.

History of jaundice/liver dysfunction related to augmentin.

    Be cautious when using

Should ask carefully the history of hypersensitivity to penicillin cephalosporin or other allergens before the beginning of treatment with Augmentin SR. If allergic reactions occur, Augmentin SR is stopped and used for appropriate replacement therapy. Serious anaphylactic reactions require immediate emergency treatment with adrenaline, oxygen breathing, intravenous steroids and airway support.

Avoid using Augmentin SR if suspected to increase single cellular hyperlly due to the appearance of the measles rash related to this condition after using amoxicillin. Prolonged use sometimes causes unsure bacterial proliferation.

Should follow appropriately when anticoagulants are prescribed simultaneously with Augmentin SR. The dose of anticoagulant drugs may be needed to maintain the desired anticoagulant level.

No need to adjust Augmentin SR in patients with creatinine clearance ≥ 30ml/min. It is not recommended to use Augmentin SR in patients with creatinine clearance

Should use Augmentin SR cautiously in patients with signs of liver dysfunction.

The ability to drive and operate machinery

    No information.

    Pregnancy

as well as all other drugs, should be avoided during pregnancy, especially in the first three months, unless the doctor thinks it is necessary.

    Breastfeeding period

    can use augmentin during breastfeeding.

    Medicinal interaction

Do not recommend simultaneous use with probenecid because of reducing amoxicillin secretion through renal tubules, with allopurinol because it can cause the likelihood of allergic reactions on the skin.

Augmentin SR can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. If it is necessary to prescribe simultaneously with acenocoumarol or warfarin, carefully monitor prothrombin or INR time when starting or stopping using augmentin.

    Storage
