Code ATC: H03AO01.
Berlthyrox contains synthetic levothyroxine that is similar to the natural thyroid hormone synthesized mainly from the thyroid. After converting partially into Liothyronine (T3) in the liver and kidneys, the drug enters the cells in the body, the specific effects of the thyroid hormones are observed instead of the development, growth and metabolism of the body.
pharmacokinetics
When taking the drug when hungry, levothyroxine is absorbed up to 80%, mainly in the small intestine. The peak concentration in plasma is about 6 hours after taking the drug. At the beginning of the treatment, the onset effect is usually seen after 3-5 days. The drug distribution is about 1/2L/kg. Over 99% levothyroxine in the body in the form of plasma proteins. The metabolic clearance coefficient is about 1.2L plasma/day, the drug is mainly metabolized in the liver, kidney, brain and muscle. Due to the high ratio of plasma proteins, thyroid hormones only appear in small quantities when hemolysis.

The amount of thyroid hormone excreted in breast milk is very small, even when high doses of high doses Levothyroxine, and therefore, does not harm breastfeeding.
The need to use levothyroxine in pregnant women with hyperthyroidism is due to increased oestrogen hormone levels (female sex hormones). Therefore, it is necessary to check the thyroid function during and after pregnancy and adjust the dose appropriately.
However, Berlthyrox 100 is not used with anti -thyroid drugs during pregnancy because it is necessary to take higher anti -thyroid dose. Because anti -thyroid drugs, unlike levothyroxine, can be through the placenta fence at the usual doses, this can cause hypothyroidism to the fetus. For this reason, always use low -dose anti -thyroid medications for pregnant women with hyperthyroidism. Do not do thyroid inhibiting tests during pregnancy.
When pregnant and breastfeeding, the exact dose must be obeyed and not overdosed.
