Uses
indications
Bloza drugs are indicated in the following cases:
Losartan prevents the connection of Angiotensin-II with their receptors so it is blocked by vasoconstriction, which reduces blood pressure. Losartan slows down the impairment of kidney function in high blood pressure patients with Type II diabetes.
pharmacokinetics
After drinking, Losartan absorbs well and initially metabolized through the liver thanks to the cytochrom P450 enzymes. Losartan's bioavailability is approximately 33%. About 14% of Losartan dose taken into activated metabolites, this substance is mostly antiotenic antagonism Angiotensin-II. Half of the lifetime of Losartan is about 2 hours and the metabolites are active within 3-4 hours.
Both Losartan and active metabolites are highly linked to plasma proteins, mainly albumin and they do not pass the blood -brain barrier. The distribution of Losartan is about 34 liters and of the metabolites with an activity of about 12 liters. Losartan's total plasma fronges of plasma are about 600 ml/minute and of an active metabolite of 50 ml/minute; Their clearance in the kidney corresponds to about 75 ml/min. After drinking Losartan marked 14C, collected about 35% of the radioactive in the urine and about 60% in feces.
In patients with mild to medium cirrhosis, the area under the curve (AUC) of Losartan and of the metabolic substance has a higher activity, corresponding, 5 times and 2 times higher than in patients with normal liver.

Losartan tablets can be used in combination with other antihypertensive drugs (such as diuretics, calcium inhibitors, alpha or beta inhibitors and central activity agents), as well as well with insulin and other common hypoglycemic drugs (such as sulfonylurea, glitazone and glucosidase inhibitors).
Heart failure in adults
Therapy usually starts at a dose of 12.5mg of Losartan per day. In general, the dosage may increase each week (for example, the dose of 12.5mg/day throughout the first week, 25mg/day during the 2nd week, 50mg/day throughout the 3rd week) until the maintenance dose of 50mg Losartan per day, depending on the patient's condition.
In the treatment of heart failure, Losartan is often combined with a diuretics and or digitalis (this drug makes the heart more and more effective) and/or a beta inhibitor.
Dosage for special patients
The doctor may recommend lower doses, especially when the therapy starts in patients who have taken high doses of dosage, in patients with liver failure or in patients over 75 years old. Do not use losartan for patients with severe liver failure.
Note: The above dose is for reference only. Specific dosage depends on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist. What to do when overdose? If you suspect an overdose, choose the medication immediately.
