    How to use

    carboplatin is usually intravenous in 15 minutes or longer. Can be transmitted continuously for 24 hours, or peritoneal injection.

    Can dilute the drug with 5% dextrose or 0.9% NaCl solution to have a concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.

    Be cautious when making the drug and when manipulating with the drug, do not leave dirty cords on the skin. The drug shot in the eyes may be blind.

    Must be injected into the blood vessels, if injected out of the vessel may be necrotic.

    Carboplatin's dose must be based on clinical response, drug tolerance and toxicity, so that there is the optimal treatment results with harmful effects.

    The starting dose must be based on the body surface area, and must be calculated based on the kidney function. Common dose used 300-450mg/m2

    or calculate the total dose by the following formula (Chatelut formula):

  • Total dose (mg) = AUC target (mg/min) x Cl Carboplatin (ml/min).
  • In which, glomerular filtration ratio is calculated as follows:

  • For men: Cl Carboplatin (ml/min) = (0.134 x P) + 218 x P (1 - 0.00457 x T): Cr
  • For women: Cl Carboplatin (ml/min) = (0.134 x P) + 0.686 (218 x P x (1 - 0.00457 x t)
  • p = weight (kg);
  • t = Patient age (year);
  • cr = serum creatinine concentration (micromol/liter).

    Total high doses can be used up to 1,600 mg/m2 to divide the dose for several days, used in high doses of chemotherapy combined with stem cell transmission.

    The repeated dose must be at least 4 weeks or more. Use only when hematological parameters have recovered at an acceptable level. Must be ready for vehicles to handle possible complications.

    Ovarian cancer:

    Progressive ovarian cancer (stage III and IV): Carboplatin starting dose for adults 300 mg/m2. The next dose must be after 4 weeks or longer if the blood is toxicity recovers slowly and adjusts the dose depending on the decrease in the hemorrhage in the previous treatment. The total 1 treatment is 6 times.

    Reversed ovarian cancer: The starting dose is 360 mg/m2, 4 weeks/1 time.

    Adjust the dose depending on the level of hemorrhage decrease in the previous use:

    If the blood is not significant (platelets are over 100,000/mm3 and neutral leukocytes above 2,000/mm3), whether using a single carboplatin or coordination should also increase the dose of 25%.

    If the blood is toxicity is mild to medium to medium (platelets 50,000 - 100,000/mm3 and neutral leukocytes 500 - 2,000/mm3) the next dose is with the previous dose.

    If blood toxicity is just severe to severe (platelets below 50,000/mm3 and neutral leukocytes below 500/mm3), the next dose will be reduced by 25%.

    If after 2 dose reduction is only 50% of the initial dose and the bloody to decrease from moderate to severe, the carboplatin can be replaced with cisplatin because cisplatin has a lower bone marrow toxicity.

    Carboplatin dose used to treat other cancer is similar to ovarian cancer.

    Must reduce the dose for people with kidney failure:

  • Creatinine clearance 41 - 59 (ml/min): Starting dose 250mg/ml. Specific dosage depends on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist.What to do when using overdose?

    What to do when you forget 1 dose? However, if the time to relax with the next dose is too short, skip the dose and continue the calendar of the drug. Do not use double dose to compensate for missed dose.
