Indications

Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 is indicated in the following cases:

  • Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency and vitamin D.
  • Minerals supplements
  • Vitamin
  • ATC code: Calcium Carbonate (A 12 AA 04), Calcium Lactat Gluconate (A 12 AA 06) and Cholecalciferol (A 11 cc 05).

Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 is a combination of calcium and vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption in the small intestine. Using calcium and vitamin D3 helps fight the increase in parathyroid hormones, hormones that increase bone reabsorption and cause calcium deficiency.

The condition of vitamin D in the body depends on the geographic latitude, outdoor time and diet (foods rich in vitamin D, supplements, fish, cod liver oil). Vitamin D deficiency especially in winter and early spring is very common in many countries, affecting all population parts including children, teenagers, elderly people due to the inefficient UV radiation (UV). People who live mainly in the house do not spend enough time to heat the sun often have vitamin D disease.

    pharmacokinetics

    calcium:

absorption: about 25-50% of the oral dose of calcium is absorbed, mainly at the top of the small intestine and is transferred to the area that can exchange calcium. Vitamin D is needed for calcium absorption and increases the mechanism of absorption.

Distribution: 99% of calcium in the body concentrated in the mineral components of bones and teeth. The remaining 1% is found in internal and extracellular fluids. About 50% of the total amount of calcium in the blood existed in the form of ionizing physiological activity, with about 5% in the form of a complex with citrate, phosphate and other anions, the remaining 45% is associated with protein, mainly albumin.

    Metabolism: There is no report.

Elimination: Calcium is eliminated through urine, feces and sweat. Elimination through urine through glomerular filtration and reabsorption in the renal tubules.

    Vitamin D3

absorption: Cholecalciferol is absorbed in the intestine.

Distribution: Cholecalciferol is transported to the liver by cohesion to the blood protein.

Metabolism: Cholecalciferol was first hydroxylation into 25-hydroxychololeciferol in the liver. Then continue to be hydroxylation in the kidney to 1.25-dihydroxycholeciferol is a metabolic form of vitamin D3, which plays a role in enhancing calcium absorption. Vitamin D3 is not hydroxylation that exists in muscle and fat tissue.

Elimination: The sale time of vitamin D3 in plasma is a few days, excreted through feces and urine.

Before taking Calcium Sandoz 600 +Vitamin D3 effervescence prevents and treats calcium deficiency, vitamin D (10 tablets)

    How to use

Dissolve effervescent tablets in a glass of water (about 200 ml) and drink immediately. Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 can be used at any time, or not with food.

    Dosage

    teenagers and adults:

  • Prevention of calcium deficiency and vitamin D: 1 tablet/day.
  • 1 tablet/day.
  • Note: The above dose is for reference only. Dosage and specific treatment time depending on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist.

What to do when overdose? Long -term overdose with results of hypercalcemia can lead to vascular calcification and organs.

In case of poisoning, stop the drug immediately and supplement the shortage of fluid.

If needed, hydration should be used, including salt fluid intravenous. A diuretics can be used (such as Furosemid) to increase calcium secretion and to prevent excess volume, but should avoid thiazid diuretics. In patients with renal failure, hydration is not effective, so it is necessary to dialysis. In the case of persistent hypercalcemia, it is recommended to eliminate related factors before treatment, for example: excess vitamin A or D, primary hyperthyroidism, malignant tumor, kidney failure, or immobile.

What to do when you forget a dose? However, if close to the next dose, skip the forgotten dose and take the next dose at the time as planned. Note that it should not be used double the prescribed dose.

  • Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any ingredients of the drug.

    Be cautious when using

When long -term treatment should monitor blood calcium levels and kidney function through blood creatinine measurement. Especially monitoring the patients with geriatric treatment simultaneously with glycosid or diuretic aids and in patients tends to create stones. In case of hypercalcemia or signs of kidney failure, dose decreased or stop treatment.

In patients with renal failure, vitamin D should be used cautiously. Calcium concentration should be monitored with phosphate levels in serum and urine. Should take into account the risk of soft calcification.

In patients with severe renal impairment, vitamin D in the form of cholecalciferol is not metabolized normally, should use preparations containing vitamin D activated.

In patients with Sarcoidosis, Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 should be used carefully due to the risk of increased vitamin D conversion into activity. Patients with sarcoidosis use Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 should be monitored in serum and urine. In patients with immobile osteoporosis, Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 should be used caution due to the risk of hypercalcemia.

Do not simultaneously use Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 with other products containing calcium and vitamin D unless the doctor's opinion is treated.

Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 (containing citric acid) should be used carefully in patients with severe renal impairment, especially those who are using aluminum -containing preparations.

Excipients in Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3:

The ability to drive and operate machinery

The drug has no effect on the ability to drive and operate machinery.

    During pregnancy

During pregnancy, do not use more than 1500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D per day. Calcium and vitamin D should be avoided because of persistent hypercalcemia related to adverse side effects on fetal development.

    Breastfeeding period

Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 can be used during breastfeeding. Calcium and vitamin D excrete in breast milk.

    Interactive drug

thiazid diuretics reduce calcium excretion through urine. Due to the risk of hypercalcemia, blood calcium concentration should be monitored regularly during use simultaneously with thiazid diuretics.

Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption and may need to increase the dose of calcium sandoz 600 + vitamin D3.

Test antibiotic tetracycline can be reduced to reduce calcium absorption. Therefore, tetracyclin should be used at least 2 hours or 4 - 6 hours after taking calcium.

The toxicity of cardiac gycosides can increase with hypercalcemia due to calcium treatment. Patients need to be monitored with electrocardiogram (ECG) and serum calcium concentration.

The absorption capacity of oral bisphosphonate or sodium fluorid may be reduced when used simultaneously with calcium preparations. Therefore, you should use oral bisphosphonate for at least 3 hours before taking Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamind3.

Oxalic acid (in spinach and Dai Hoang) and phytic acid (in cereals) can inhibit calcium absorption due to precipitation with calcium ions. Patients should not take the drug within two hours after eating foods rich in oxalic acid and phytic acid.

Resin exchanges ions like cholestyramin or laxative drugs such as paraffin oil can reduce the absorption of vitamin D in the digestive tract, so it is advisable to use Calcium Sandoz 600 + Vitamin D3 at least 1 hour before or 4 - 6 hours after taking these preparations.
