Indications

Calsource 500mg drug is indicated in the following cases:

  • Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency due to increased demand (pregnant women, nursing mothers, babies in the growth period). The method of supplementing specific treatment in the room and treatment of osteoporosis in patients is at risk of calcium deficiency.

ATC code: calcium carbonate (A 12 AA 04). Calcium lactat gluconate (A 12 AA 06).

Calcium is an essential mineral, essential for the formation and maintenance of bones, giving electrolytes in the body and for the right activity of many metabolic organs.

    pharmacokinetic

    absorption

about 25 - 50% of the oral dose of calcium is absorbed, mainly at the head of the small intestine and is transferred to the area that can exchange calcium.

    Distribution and metabolism

99% of calcium in the body is concentrated in the mineral components of bones and teeth. The remaining 1% is found in internal and extracellular fluids. About 50% of the total amount of calcium in the blood existed in the form of ionizing physiological activity, with about 5% in the form of a complex with citrate, phosphate and other anions, the remaining 45% is associated with protein, mainly albumin.

    Elimination

calcium is eliminated through urine, feces and sweat. Elimination through urine depends on the glomerular filter and reabsorption in the renal tubules.

  • Before taking Calsource 500mg GSK effervescent tablet prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency (20 tablets)

    How to use

    oral medication.

Dissolve Calsource effervescent tablets in a glass of water (about 200 ml) and drink immediately.

Do not swallow or chew the tablet.

Calsource can be used or not food.

    Dosage

Adults: 1-3 Calsource (500 - 1500mg of elemental calcium) every day.

Children: 1-2 Calsource (500 - 1000mg of elemental calcium) every day.

The above dose is for reference only. Specific dosage depends on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist.

What to do when overdose? Symptoms of hypercalcemia may include: nausea, vomiting, thirst, thirst, too much urination, dehydration and constipation. Long -term overdose with results of hypercalcemia can lead to vascular calcification and organs.

The threshold of calcium poisoning is when supplemented exceeds 2000mg per day, continuously for a few months.

    How to overdose

In the case of poisoning, stop treatment immediately and supplement the shortage of fluids.

If an overdose is required to be treated, hydration should be used, including salt fluid infusion when necessary. A diuretics can be used (such as Furosemid) to increase calcium secretion and to prevent excess volume, but should avoid thiazid diuretics.

In patients with renal failure, hydration is ineffective and they have to undergo dialysis. In case of hypercalcemia, it is recommended to eliminate related factors, such as excess vitamin A or D, primary hyperthyroidism, malignant tumor, kidney failure, or immobility.

In an emergency, call the 115 emergency center immediately or go to the nearest local health station.

What to do when you forget a dose? However, if close to the next dose, skip the forgotten dose and take the next dose at the time as planned. Note that it should not be used double the prescribed dose.

    Contraindicated

Calsource medicine 500mg contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or any excipients.
  • Diseases and/or condition leading to hypercalcemia and/or hypercalcemia.
  • Kidney calcium infection, kidney stones.
  • Precautions when used

  • For patients with mild calcium ureter (exceeding 300mg/24 hours or 7.5 mmol/24 hours) or a history of urinary stones, it is necessary to monitor calcium secretion in urine. Dosage should be reduced or discontinued if necessary. Additional recommendations for patients easily forming stones in the urinary tract.
  • In patients with renal impairment, calcium salts should be used under medical supervision, and monitoring calcium and phosphate levels in serum.

  • During high doses and especially when treated with vitamin D, there is a risk of hypercalcemia and then to kidney failure. In these patients should monitor blood calcium and kidney function.
  • There has been a medical report on the aluminum absorption of Citrate salt. Calsource effervescent (containing citric acid) should be used carefully in patients with severe renal impairment, especially those who are using aluminum -containing preparations
  • Keep Calsource bubbling tablets out of reach of children.

In pregnant women, the overdose of calcium should be avoided because the persistent calcium hypertension is associated with adverse side effects on the development of the fetus.

    Breastfeeding period

Calsource can be used during breastfeeding. Calcium excreted in breast milk.

    Medicinal interaction

thiazid diuretics reduce calcium secretion through urine. Due to the risk of hypercalcemia, blood calcium concentration should be monitored regularly during use simultaneously with thiazid diuretics.

body corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption. During simultaneous use, Calsource dose may be increased.

Preparations containing tetracyclin simultaneously with calcium preparations may not be absorbed well. For this reason, Tetracyclin should be used at least 2 hours or 4 - 6 hours after taking Calsource.

The toxicity of cardiac gycosides can increase with hypercalcemia due to calcium treatment. Patients need to be monitored with electrocardiogram (ECG) and serum calcium concentration.

Oral or sodium fluorid bisriide is simultaneously used with calcium preparations that can reduce the absorption in the gastrointestinal tract of oral biphosphonate or sodium fluorid. Therefore, you should take oral bisphosphonate at least 3 hours before taking Calsource.

Oxalic acid (for example, in spinach and great royal acid) and phytic acid (for example, in cereals) can inhibit calcium absorption through the formation of insoluble compounds with calcium ions. Patients should not use calcium products within two hours after eating foods rich in oxalic acid and phytic acid.
