At high concentrations Clotrimazole have the effect of killing fungi but it is harmful to cell membranes, causing loss of basic components of cells such as K+, amino acids. With low concentration of drugs that restrict the growth of mushrooms.

Clotrimazole works on the penetration of the fungal cell wall by interfering on the lipide of the membrane.

Clotrimazole does not cause teratogenic rats, mice and rabbits. The oral high doses show signs of toxic for mouse fetus. There is no report on the ability to cause cancer of the drug.

    Dynamic pharmacokinetics

The drug is distributed mainly in the skin in the form of non -metabolic, the concentration decreases from the outside to the inside, the highest concentration in the horny layer and the presence of the hair follicles.

After applying the skin healed or injured 0.1 - 0.5% of the drug is absorbed but not found in the serum (meaning the concentration of the drug is less than 1 ng/ml). Oral medication research (less used in the actual treatment) and the kettle sugar shows that the drug is rapidly metabolized in the liver before the whole body effect. 50% of the amount of clotrimazole and the metabolites of the drug in serum are associated with plasma albumin. The content of both reached the highest peak within 2-6 hours after 1 dose of oral. This concentration decreases when continuing to use the drug.

Clotrimazole at a low oral dose of 7 mg/1kg/day stimulates the oxidation of the liver, increasing its transformation. The drug excreted mainly through bile and urine with only 1% in the form of operation. It is not clear whether the drug is excreted through breast milk or transported through the placenta. After 1 10% oral dose is discharged in urine after 24 hours, 25% in 6 days.
