Uses

Indications

Cefadroxil 500mg drug is indicated in cases of treatment of mild and medium bacteria infections due to sensitive bacteria:

  • Urinary tract infections: nephritis - acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, gynecological infections. Blood, abscess, ulcers lying for a long time, mastitis, circles, boils, cell inflammation. Synthesis of bacterial cell walls.

Cefadroxil is a para-hydroxy derivative of cefalexin and is an antibiotic used by oral with antibacterial spectrum similar to Cefalexin.

In vitro, Cefadroxil tests have bactericidal effects on many types of gram -positive and gram -negative bacteria. Sensitive gram -positive bacteria include staphylococcus strains with secretions and no penicilinase secretion, streptococcus strains

Beta hemolysis, streptococcus pneumoniae and streptococcus pyogenes. Sensitive Gram -negative bacteria include Escherichia Coli, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Proteus Mirabilis and Moraxella Catarrhalis. Haemophilus Influenzae often decreases sensitivity.

    pharmacokinetics

cefadroxil sustainable in acid and well absorbed in the digestive tract. With oral dose of 500mg or 1g, the peak concentration of plasma corresponds to about 16 and 30 micrograms/ml, achieved after 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Although the peak concentration is similar to the peak concentration of cefalexin, the concentration of cefadroxil in plasma is maintained longer.

Food does not change the absorption of the drug. About 20 % Cefadroxil binds to plasma proteins. The sale time of the drug in plasma is about 1 hour and 30 minutes in normal renal function, this time lasts from 14 to 20 hours in kidney failure.

Cefadroxil is widely distributed throughout the tissue and body fluid. The average distribution volume is 18 liters/1.73m, or 0.31 liters/kg. Cefadroxil passes through the placenta and excreted in breast milk.

The drug is not metabolized. More than 90 % of the doses of use excreted in the urine are constant within 24 hours through glomerular filtration and excretion in the renal tubules. Therefore, with a dose of 500mg, the peak concentration of cefadroxil in urine is greater than 1mg/ml.

After 1g dose, the antibiotic concentration in the urine retains 20 to 22 hours on the minimum level of inhibitory concentration for sensitive bacteria. Cefadroxil is greatly eliminated through artificial kidney.

    How to use

Use Cefadroxil 500mg Oral. Can reduce gastrointestinal side effects if taking medicine with food.

    Dosage

    Adults and children (> 40kg)

500 mg - 1 g, 2 times/day depending on the degree of infection or 1g/day in skin and soft tissue infections, uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

Children over 6 years old (

    500 mg, 2 times/day.

    Elderly

Check the kidney function and adjust the dose in patients with renal insufficiency, start the dose of 500 mg - 1000 mg, the next dose is adjusted as follows:

  • Creatinine clearance 0 - 10ml/min, dose 500mg - 1000mg, the period between 2 doses is 36 hours. hour.

Note: The above dose is for reference only. Specific dosage depends on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist.

What to do when overdose? Caution may occur, convulsions, especially in patients with kidney failure.

Overdose treatment should consider the overdose of many drugs, abnormal drug interaction and pharmacokinetics of the patient. Artificial kidney separation may have a effect to eliminate blood from blood but often not indicated. Protect the respiratory tract of patients, ventilation and infusion. Mainly treatment support or solve symptoms after washing, gastric exfoliating.

What to do when forgetting 1 dose? However, if the time to relax with the next dose is too short, skip the dose and continue the calendar of the drug. Do not use double dose to compensate for missed dose.

  • Side Effects

When using Cefadroxil 500mg, you may experience unwanted effects (ADR).

Unwanted effects in 6% of people being treated.

    Common, ADR> 1/100

Digestive: Nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea.

    Uncommon, 1/1000

  • Blood: Eosemia loves eosin.
  • Systemic body: Anaphylaxis reaction, serum, fever. Lyells), angioedema. joint.
  • Instructions on how to handle ADR

Stop using Cefadroxil 500mg. In case of allergies or serious hypersensory reactions, supportive treatment (maintenance of ventilation and use of adrenalin, oxygen, antihistamine, corticosteroid intravenous injection).

Cases of mild fake colitis, usually just stop the drug. Cases of moderate and heavy cases, should be noted for additional fluids and electrolytes, protein supplements and Metronidazol oral oral, are antibacterial drugs that treat c.difficile colitis.

Notify the doctor with unwanted effects when using the drug.

    Warnings

Before using the drug you need to read the instructions carefully and refer to the information below.

    Contraindicated

Cefadroxil 500mg drug contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Patients with a history of allergies to cephalosporin antibiotics and other ingredients of the drug.
  • Children under 6 years old.

    Precautions when using

Because there is a diagonal hypersensitivity reaction, including anaphylactic shock reaction between an allergic person with Beta -Lactam antibiotics, so be careful for patients who have previously been allergic to penicillin.

Stop the drug if an allergy occurs when taking the drug. Serious hypersensitivity reactions may be required to treat epinephrine and other emergency measures including oxygen, infusion, intravenous antihistamine, corticosteroids, amines for hypertension and airway ventilation when clinically indicated.

Patients with significant impaired renal function. Before and during treatment, it is necessary to carefully monitor and take appropriate tests in patients with renal impairment or suspected kidney failure.

Using Cefadroxil 500mg long -term can cause excessive development of non -sensitive evidence, need to monitor patients carefully, stop using drugs if superinfection.

There has been a report of fake colitis when using broad -spectrum antibiotics, so this diagnosis is needed in patients with severe diarrhea related to the use of antibiotics. Should be cautious when prescribing broad -spectrum antibiotics for people with gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis.

Clostridium difficile (CDAD) has been reported when using almost all antibacterial drugs, including Cefadroxil, and can fluctuate from mild diarrhea to fatal colitis. Treatment with antibacterial drugs changes the intestinal bacterial system leading to overworking of C. Difficile.

    C. Difficile produces toxins A and B, contributing to the development of CDAD. C. Difficile strains produce hypertoxin causes increased disease and mortality because these infections can be resistant to antibiotic treatment and may require a procedure to remove the colon. CDAD must be considered in all patients with diarrhea after antibiotics. Considering the use of drugs is necessary because CDAD has been reported more than two months after taking antibacterial drugs. If the CDAD is suspected or has been identified, using antibiotics continuously does not against C. Difficile may need to be stopped. Infusion and electrical infusion should be conducted, protein supplement, antibiotic treatment against C. Difficile and surgical evaluation when clinically indicated.

There is no reliable data that is used to use Cefadroxil with kidney poisonous pills such as aminoglycosides that can change the toxicity of the kidney.

Experience using Cefadroxil for infants and premature birth is limited. Caution should be used for these patients.

The ability to drive and operate machinery

The drug can cause headaches, agitation (rare), cautious when driving and operating machinery.

    Pregnancy

There has been no notice of harmful effects for the fetus, the safe use of cephalosporin during pregnancy has not been determined. Only use this drug during pregnancy when really necessary.

    Breastfeeding period

cefadroxil excreted in breast milk with low concentrations, no impact on breastfeeding babies, but should be concerned when children have diarrhea, wasting and rash.

    Medicinal interaction

cholestyramin binds with cefadroxil in the intestine slowing the absorption of this drug.

    Probenecid can reduce cephalosporin secretion.

Furosemid, aminoglycosid can be given to toxicity to the kidneys.
