cephalexin is a semi -synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic, which has bactericidal effects by inhibiting synthetic bacterial cells.

cephalexin is sustainable with the act of penicillinase of staphylococcus, so the impact on Staphylococcus aureus is not sensitive to penicillin. Cephalexin has the effect of printing in vitro on the following bacteria: Streptococcus beta blood -soluble, Staphylococcus - including coagulase strains (+), coagulase ( -) and penicilinase, streptococcus pneumoniae, some Escherichia coli, Proteus Mirabilis, some Klebsella Spland. Branhamella Catnrhalis, Shigella. Cephalexin also has the activity on most E.coli who have resisted ampicillin.

    pharmacokinetics

cephalexin is completely absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and reaches the peak concentration of plasma around 9 and 18mg/ml after 1 hour with the corresponding oral dose of 250 and 500mg, double the double dose reaches the double concentration. Drinking Cephalexin and food can slow down but the total amount of drugs absorb does not change. Up to 15% of the drug is associated with plasma proteins. The half -life of the drug in plasma is about 1 hour, increasing when the kidney function decreases.

cephalexin is widely distributed throughout the body but the amount in cerebrospinal fluid is negligible. Cephalexin passes the placenta and excreted breast milk with low concentrations.

Cephalexin is not metabolized. About 80% of the dosage excreted through urine in the form of unchanged in the first 6 hours via glomerular filtration and excretion in the renal tubules.

  • Patients with a history of anaphylaxis caused by penicillin or other serious reactions through IgE immun globulin intermediaries.
  • Be cautious when using

  • cephalexin is often well tolerated even people who are allergic to penicillin, but there are also very few cross -allergens.
  • Use of long -term cephalexin can cause excessive growth of uncertainty bacteria (such as Candida, Enterococcus, Clostridium difficile) in this case should stop the drug. There has been a notice of fake colitis when using broad spectrum antibiotics, so it is necessary to pay attention to the diagnosis of this disease in patients with severe diarrhea during or after antibiotic use.
  • Similarly with antibiotics eliminated mainly through the kidneys, when renal failure, the dose of cephalexin must be reduced.
  • In patients using Cephalexin may have a false positive reaction when testing the urinary glucose by the "Benedict" method, fehling solution, or "clinitest", but with enzyme tests, it does not affect.
  • Cephalexin announcement causes positive positive Coombs.
  • cephalexin can affect the quantification of creatinine with alkaline picrat, giving artificial high results. However, the increase does not seem clinical significance.

The ability to drive and operate machinery

has not seen the drug that affects the ability to drive and operate the machine.

    Pregnancy

Experimental research and clinical experience have not shown signs of toxicity for pregnancy and teratogenic. However, due to the lack of adequate research and strict control of the use of cephalexin for pregnant women, this drug must be used carefully and only for pregnant women when really necessary.

cephalexin is excreted into breast milk. The drug reaches a maximum concentration of 4mcg/ml, then gradually decreases and disappears after 8 hours of taking the drug. Be careful when using cephalexin for breastfeeding women.

    Medicinal interaction

because cephalosporin antibiotics such as cephalexin only act on proliferative bacteria, should not combine them with bactericidal antibiotics.

When combined with strong diuretics (Ethacrynic Acid, Furosemide) or antibiotics with kidney toxicity (aminoglycoside, polymyxin, colistin), cephalexin may cause more kidney toxicity.

Probenecid increases serum concentration and semi -waste time of cephalexin.

As other broad -spectrum antibiotics, cephalexin reduces the effects of contraceptives containing estrogen.

    Storage

In a dry place, the temperature does not exceed 300C. Avoid light.
