Uses

Indications

Pentinox Pentinox 400mg is indicated in the following cases:

  • Infection of one type or more intestinal parasites such as roundworm, needle worm, hairworms, hookworms, worms, melon seeds (Hymenolepis Nana), Tapkin Solium (Taenia Solium), cowbow (T.Saginata), Opisthorchis Viverrini and O.Sinensis.
  • Albendazole is also effective on immigration larvae in the skin, infection of tapeworm larvae in the brain (neurocysticercosis).

    Folliculum infection.

    Pharmacy

Albendazole is a substance of benzimidazole carbamat, in terms of structure related to Mebendazol. The drug has a broad -active spectrum on intestinal worms such as hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), needle worms (enterobius vermicularis), SEA worms (Strongyloides Stercoralis), Hairworm (Trichuris Trichuriura), Capillaria (Capillaria Philippian (Trichinella Spiralis) and migration larvae in the skin and muscles, turbulent tapelines and tissue larvae (such as echinococcus granulosus, e.multoLocularis and E.Neurocysticervosis).

Albendazole is active in both adult and larvae stage of intestinal worms and eliminates the eggs of roundworms and hair worms. The main metabolic form of albendazol is Albendazol Sulfoxid still works and holds an important position of the pharmacological effect of the drug.

The main acting mechanism of albendazole is similar to other benzimidazols. The drug is associated with the sub -parasites, thereby inhibiting the coincidence of the sub -sub -sub -submarine to the minimum of the cytoplasm is essential for the normal activity of the parasitic cell

    pharmacokinetic

    absorption

In humans, after drinking, Albendazole is very absorbed very poorly (5%). Most anti -helminth effects occur in the intestine. To have the effect of tissue, high and long -term doses must be used. Due to the steps of metabolism, it is not seen to see Albendazole or only see in the form of traces in the wound.

After taking a single dose of 400mg of Albendazole, the peak concentration of sulfoxid metabolites achieved in plasma is about 0.04 - 0.55mcg/ml after 1 hour to 4 hours. When taking the drug with greasy foods, plasma concentrations increase to 2-4 times. There is a great difference between individual concentrations of albendazole sulfoxid in plasma. It may be due to erratic absorption and due to the difference in the speed of drug metabolism.

    Distribution

Albendazole Sulfoxid binds to protein in plasma up to 70%. When used for long -term use in the treatment of tapeworms, albendazole sulfoxid levels in tapeworm fluid can reach about 20% of plasma concentrations. Albendazole sulfoxid through the brain -marrow barrier is about 1/3 of the plasma concentration.

    Metabolism

Albendazole is rapid and completely oxidized, into metabolites that still have the effect of Albendazole Sulfoxid, then converted into a compound that no longer works as Albendazole Sulfon.

    Elimination

Albendazole has half -life eliminated from plasma for about 9 hours. Sulfoxid metabolism is eliminated through the kidneys along with sulfon metabolites and other metabolites. A negligible amount of sulfoxid metabolism is excreted through bile.

What to do when overdose? Rarely severe reactions, including granulocytes, granulocytes, or hemophilia. Blood formula must be tested at the beginning of the treatment cycle every 28 days and every 2 weeks during treatment. Continuing to be treated with albendazole if the leukemia decreases small and does not worsen.

Albendazole may increase liver enzyme from a moderate level in 16% of patients, but return to normal when stopping treatment. Liver function testing (transaminase) must be conducted before starting each treatment cycle and at least every 2 weeks during treatment. If the liver enzyme increases a lot, albendazole should be stopped. It may be treated with albendazole when the liver enzyme returns to the level before treatment, but need more tests when re -treatment.

Patients are treated with tapeworm larvae with brain damage, should use more corticosteroids and anti -convulsions. Take or intravenously corticosteroids will prevent the intracranial hypertension in the first week when treating this tapeworm disease.

Inhaled larvae with brain damage (neurocystic - errosis), which may affect the retina, though very rare. Therefore, before treatment, the retinal damage should be tested. If there is already a retinal damage, it is advisable to consider the benefits of treatment compared to the damage of the retina caused by Albendazole.

What to do when you forget a dose? However, if close to the next dose, skip the forgotten dose and take the next dose at the time as planned. Note that it should not be used double the prescribed dose.

    Side Effects

When using Pentinox 400mg, you may experience unwanted effects (ADR).

There is a lack of clinical trials that have a wide range of tests to better assess the safety of the drug. When treating for a short time (no more than 3 days), some cases are uncomfortable in the digestive tract (epigastric pain, diarrhea) and headache. In the treatment of tapeworms and tapeworm larvae with brain damage (neurocysticercosis) are cases of high and long -term doses, harmful effects are more common and worse. Usually unwanted effects are not severe and recover without treatment. Only stop treatment when leukemia (0.7%) or liver abnormalities (3.8% in tapeworm disease).

    Common, ADR> 1/100

  • Fever, headache, dizziness, brain manifest, increased pressure in the brain, normal liver function, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, hair loss (recovery).
  • Uncommon, 1/1000

  • Allergic reactions, leukopenia, skin rash, urticaria, acute renal failure.
  • Rare, ADR

  • Grain leukopenia, general hematuria, grain leukemia, plateletal reduction
  • Instructions on how to handle ADR

When experiencing side effects of the drug, it is necessary to stop using and notify the doctor or go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.
