  • Pharmacokology

chloroquine phosphate has a good effect on the red blood cells of P. Vivax, P. Malariae and most P. Falciparum strains (except for gametes). The mechanism of anti -malarial effects is unknown but may be due to the drug that affects the digestive process of Haemoglobin by increasing the pH in the cyst of malaria parasite cells or hindering nucleoprotein synthesis of malaria parasites.

    pharmacokinetic

chloroquine phosphate absorbs quickly and almost completely in the digestive tract. The drug is slowly eliminated but increases when the urine is acidicated, more than half of the amount of chloroquine phosphate excreted by urine in the formless form.
