citicoline is a natural endogenous nucleoside involved in lecithin biosynthesis. It increases the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine (main nerve cell phospholipid) and enhances acetylcholine production. Therefore improving the symptoms caused by mutant caused by the deficiency of Cholinergic nerve cells.

It is also confirmed that it increases blood flow and consumes oxygen in the brain. Citicoline prevents, reduces or restores the effects of ischemia and/or reduces oxygen in tissue in the majority of studies on cells and animals and in forms of cranial injuries, reduces and limits damage to nerve cell membranes, restores the sensitivity and function of intracellular enzymes and enhances brain reabsorption.

The evidence has shown that citicoline has the effect of strengthening, maintaining and repairing cell membranes and nerve function in case of ischemia and surgery due to trauma. In patients with memory loss due to old age, citicoline reduces the progression of damage.
