ATC code: R05DA09.
dextromethorphan hydrobromid is a cough reduction drug that works on the brain cough center. Although the chemical structure is related to morphine, dextromethorphan has no pain to relieve pain and very little sedative effects.
dextromethorphan is used to reduce cough due to mild stimulation in the bronchial and throat as the usual cold or inhalation of stimulants. Dextromethorphan is most effective in treating chronic cough, no sputum. The drug is often used in combination with many other substances in the treatment of upper respiratory symptoms. The drug has no effect on phlegm.
The effect of dextromethorphan is equivalent to the effect of Codeine in the treatment of chronic cough but less side effects in the digestive tract. With the treatment dose, the anti -them of the drug lasts 5 - 6 hours. The drug has low toxicity but with very high doses can inhibit the central nervous system.
pharmacokinetic
dextromethorphan is quickly absorbed through the digestive tract and reaching the peak concentration in plasma after 2 - 2.5 hours. The drug works within 15 - 30 minutes after drinking, lasting about 6 - 8 hours.
dextromethorphan after absorption is widely distributed in the body. There is no sufficient information about the excretion of dextromethorphan in breast milk.
dextromethorphan is metabolized in the liver. The metabolism of the liver depends on the genetic properties. A number of drugs O - Demethyl turned into CYP2D6 enzyme into Dextrophan, is also a substance that reduces mild cough and is n - demethyl turned by enzyme CYP3A4/3A5 to 3 - methoxymorphinan, then this substance continues to be transformed into 3 - hydroxy - morphinan by enzyme cyp2d6.
dextromethorphan is excreted in urine in a constant form and Demethyl metabolites. Dextromethorphan's waste sale time in normal people is about 1.4 hours - 3.9 hours.

Before using the drug you need to read the instructions carefully and refer to the information below.
Contraindicated
Dexipharm drugs are contraindicated in the following cases:
Precautions when using drugs
Patients are at risk or respiratory decline.
Using dextromethorphan is related to histamine release, so be careful with children with allergies.
Abuse and dependence on dextromethorphan may occur (though rare), especially due to prolonged high doses.
Simultaneous use of dextromethorphan with neurological or alcohol inhibitors can increase the effect on central nervous systems and toxic at relatively small doses.
The starch starch in this drug contains gluten with very low content. Patients allergic to starch should not use this medication. Patients with Celiac disease need to take medicine very carefully.
The ability to drive and operate machinery
Some unwanted effects of the drug such as dizziness, slight drowsiness, tremor ... can reduce the ability to focus and react of the patient, so it should not be used when driving and operating machinery.

Dextromethorphan is considered safe when used for pregnant women and is not at risk for fetuses. However, only use this drug when really necessary.
Do not use ethanol or products containing ethanol while using Dexipharm 15.
Breastfeeding period
Not enough information about the excretion of dextromethorphan into breast milk. Avoid using dextromethorphan combination preparations with ethanol for nursing mothers.
Medicinal interaction
Amiodaron, Haloperidol, Propafenon, Thioridazin, Quinidine and selective Serotonin Restrain Serotonin Inhibitors (SSRIs) CYP2D6 Enzyme inhibit the CYP2D6 enzyme. Therefore, these drugs reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan in the liver, increasing serum concentration and increasing the ADR of dextromethorphan.
Avoid simultaneous use with imao drugs because it can cause harmful interaction reactions.
Simultaneously used with central neurological inhibitors can enhance the central neurological inhibitor of these drugs or of dextromethorphan.
Valdecobid increases the concentration of dextromethorphan in serum when used together. Simultaneous use of dextromethorphan with Linezolid causes Serotonin syndrome syndrome.
Memantin can increase both the frequency and unwanted effects of Memantin and Dextromethorphan, so avoid combining use. Do not use in combination with moclobemid.
Cavalry of the drug: Because there is no studies on the cavalry of the drug, does not mix this drug with other drugs.
