Gaviscon drugs are indicated in the following cases:

Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as heartburn, indigestion and heartburn related to reflux as after meals, or during pregnancy, or in patients with symptoms associated with esophagitis due to reflux.

Pharmacology

Moc Therapy Group: Other drugs for treating gastrointestinal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease - esophagus. The drug combines 2 antacidants (calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate) and alginate.

After taken, the drug reacts quickly to stomach acid to form an alginic acid gel that has a near neutral pH and floating above the substances in the stomach effectively obstructing gastroesophageal reflux (until 4 hours).

In severe cases, the gel layer can reflux into the esophagus, rather than the substances in the stomach and create a soothing effect.

Calcium carbonate neutralizes stomach acid to soothe indigestion and heartburn. This impact is increased with the presence of sodium bicarbonate, which also has a neutral effect. The total neutralization of the product at the lowest (2 tablets) is about 10 meqh+.

Gaviscon reduces symptoms within 5 minutes to 74% of patients. Gaviscon reduces heartburn by 84% of patients. Gaviscon reduces heartburn until 4 hours.

How to use

Take oral use. Shake well before use.

Dosage

Adults and children aged 12 years and older: 1-2 packs, 4 times/day (after meals and at bedtime).

Children under 12 years of age: only use the doctor's advice.

Elderly: No need to adjust the dose for this age group.

Side Effects

In the very rare case (≤ 1/10000), patients with hypersensitivity to the composition of the drug may have allergic manifestations such as urticaria or bronchospasm, anaphylactic reaction or anaphylactic reaction. Taking a large amount of carbonate calcium can cause alkaline infection, hypercalcemia, acid hyperkemosis, milk - alkaline syndrome or constipation. These phenomena usually occur after large dose.

Contraindicated

Gaviscon drug contraindicated in the following cases:

Hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the drug, including the esters of hydroxybenzoate (parabens).

Be cautious when used

Each Gaviscon package (10 ml) contains 127.25 mg (5.53 mmol) sodium. This should be taken into account when the need for strict salt diets as in some cases of congestive heart failure and kidney failure.

Each pack (10 ml) contains 130 mg (3.25 mmol) calcium. Be careful when treating patients with hypercalcemia, renal calcium infection and recurrent renal calcium stones.

Usually not recommended for children under 12 years of age, unless there is a doctor's advice.

If symptoms do not improve after 7 days, clinical situation should be reviewed.

The drug contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate propyl are substances that can cause allergic reactions (may be slow allergic reactions).

Because it contains calcium carbonate active as an antacids, Gaviscon needs to use away from the drugs after about 2 hours: H2 h2, tetracyclin, digoxin, fluoroquinolon, iron salt, ketoconazole, sedative, thyroxin, penicilamine (Atenolol, Metoprolol, Propanolol), Glucocorticoid, Chloroquin and Diphosphonate.

Storage

Store less than 30 oC. Store in original packaging.

Do not freeze or leave in the refrigerator.

Expiry date: 24 months from the date of production.

Do not use overdue drugs indicated on the packaging.
