Ciprofloxacin acts by inhibiting DNA Girase enzyme should prevent Chromosom copying, making bacteria not reproduce.

Ciprofloxacin works well with antibiotic bacteria from other groups (aminoglycosides, cephalosporin, tetracyclin, penicilin ...).

    antibacterial spectrum:

Aerobic gram -negative bacteria, including pseudomonas and enterobacter are sensitive to drugs.

Bacteria that cause intestinal diseases such as Salmonella, Shigella, Yersina and Vibrio Cholerae are often highly sensitive to drugs.

Bacteria that cause respiratory diseases such as Haemophilus and Legionella are often sensitive, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia are only sensitive to medium -sized.

Neisseria is often very sensitive to drugs.

Aerobic gram -positive bacteria (Enterococcus strains, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Listeria monocytogenes ...) are less sensitive.

Ciprofloxacin does not work on most anaerobic bacteria.

Ciprofloxacin still works high for Salmonella Typhi (100%), Shigella Flexneri (100%). The bacteria are increasing Ciprofloxacin, including Staphylococcus aureus resistant Ciprofloxacin with a rate of 20.6%, Escherichia coli resistant Ciprofloxacin at 27.8%and S. Pneumoniae Ciprofloxacin resistant at 30%.

    Dynamic pharmacy

Ciprofloxacin absorbs quickly and easily through the gastrointestinal tract. Food can slow down the absorption of the drug but not significantly. Oral bioavailability is about 70% and the peak concentration in plasma is about 2.5 micrograms/ml achieved within 1-2 hours after taking a dose of 500 mg. Half life in plasma is about 3.5 - 4.5 hours. This time is longer in people with kidney failure and the elderly.

About 20-40% of ciprofloxacin associated with plasma proteins. The drug is widely distributed throughout the body and penetrates well into tissues. The concentration of drugs in tissue is usually higher than plasma concentrations, especially in the prostate. Ciprofloxacin is present in the form of activity in saliva, nasal juice and bronchial secretions, mucous membranes of sinuses, sputum, abdominal fluid, bile and prostate secretion. Ciprofloxacin is also found in the lungs, skin, fat, muscle, cartilage, and bone. The drug is through cerebrospinal fluid, but the concentration of the drug is only 10% of plasma concentrations in the case of inflamed meninges. Ciprofloxacin passes through the placenta and is present in breast milk, high concentration of drugs in bile.

about 40-50% of oral dose is eliminated in the form of unchanged urine by filtering in the glomerular filter and active excretion in the renal tubules, about 15% excreted in the form of metabolism. In addition, Ciprofloxacin is also eliminated by the metabolic path in the liver, the article exports through bile, and excreted through the mucosa into the intestine. The drug is excreted within 24 hours.
