Hafixim 50 Kids drug is indicated for use in cases of infections caused by the following sensitive bacteria:

The treatment of otitis media caused by Haemophilus Influenzae, Moraxella CatVrhalis, Streptococcus pyogenes; Sore throat and tonsils caused by streptococcus pyogenes.

Treatment of acute bronchitis and acute batch of chronic bronchitis caused by streptococcus pneumonia or Haemophilus influenzae or Moraxella catrhalis.

Treatment of mild and medium pneumonia.

Treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by E. coli or Proteus Mirabilis.

Treatment of some cases of nephritis - pyelonephritis and urinary tract infections are complicated caused by sensitive Enterobacteriaceae, but the treatment results are worse than the cases of uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

Treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, typhoid caused by Salmonella Typhi; Dysentery caused by sensitive shigella.

Pharmacology

Hafixim 50 Kids with the main active ingredient is Cefixime, the 3rd generation Cephalosporin antibiotic, used by oral. The drug has a bactericidal effect. Cefixime's bactericidal mechanism is similar to other cephalosporins: attached to target proteins (penicillin -mounted proteins) that inhibit mucopeptide synthesis in bacterial cell walls. The bacterial resistance mechanism of bacteria is to reduce Cefixime's affinity for target protein or reduce the permeability of bacterial cell membranes for drugs.

Cefixime is highly sustainable with the hydrolysis of beta-lactamase encoded by the gene located on plasmid and chromosome. Sustainability with beta-lactamase of Cefixime is higher than Cefaclor, Cefoxitin, Cefuroxime, Cephalexin, Cephadin.

cefixime works both in vitro and clinically with most of the strains of the following bacteria:

Gram -positive bacteria: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes.

Gram-negative bacteria: Haemophilus Influenzae (secretive or no beta-lactamase secretion), Moraxella Catatrhalis (most beta-lactamase secretion), Escherichia coli, Proteus Mirabilis, Neisseria Gonorrhoeea (secretion or no penicillinase).

Cefixime also has the effect of printing vitro with the majority of the following bacteria strains, but the clinical effect has not been verified:

Gram -positive bacteria: Streptococcus agalatiae.

Gram-negative bacteria: Haemophilus parainfluenzae (secretive or no beta-lactamase secretion), Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Klebsiella Oxytoca, Pasteurella Multocida, Providencia spp, Salmonella SPPP, Shigella SPPP, Citrobacter SPP, Citrobacter SPP, CitrobCter Amalonaticus, Citrobacter Diversus, Serratica Marcescens.

Cefixime is not active for Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and most bacterioides and Clostridia.

How to use

Dosage

Treatment time depends on the type of infection, so it will last for 48–72 hours after the symptoms of infections have gone. The usual treatment period is 5–10 days (if due to the streptococcus group A, Beta hemolysis must be treated for at least 10 days to prevent heart disease), lower respiratory infections and otitis media need treatment for 10–14 days.

The efficiency and safety of Cefixime in children under 6 months of age has not been established.

Children over 6 months to 12 years: 8 mg/kg/day, can be used once a day or divided into 2 times, each time 12 hours apart.

Adults and children over 12 years: 400 mg/day, can be used once a day or divided into 2 times, each time 12 hours apart. For this object, the dosage form should be used with appropriate content.

Uncomplicated gonorrhea caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoeae (including beta-lactamase strains): The only dose of 400 mg. The doses higher than 800 mg are also used to treat gonorrhea.

Drug interaction

Probenecid increases the peak and AUC concentration of Cefixime, reduces the clearance of the kidneys and the distribution of the drug.

Glucose test in urine with clinitest, benedict solution, fehling solution can give a fake positive result when the patient uses Cefixime.
