Uses

Indications

Kaleidid drugs are indicated in the following cases of potassium (hypokalemia) deficiency:

  • Prevent hematuria in patients who are being treated with diuretics (diuretics that cause hypotension).
  • Treatment of hematuria is caused by treatment with diuretics or corticosteroids and other conditions that cause serious potassium loss.
  • Pharmacy

    Mechanism of action

Potassium is used to prevent potassium deficiency such as the use of prolonged diuretics. It is also used to treat potassium deficiency in using diuretics.

Potassium plays an important role in the transmission of nerve impulses, the contractions of the heart, skeletal and soft tissue, energy production, maintenance of intracellular tone, maintaining normal blood pressure.

    Pharmacological effects

The pharmacological effect of potassium supplements when using treatment is to prevent side effects caused by potassium deficiency.

    Dynamic pharmacokinetics

The amount of potassium from Kaleidid tablets is absorbed almost entirely through the digestive tract, and is excreted by the kidneys.

Potassium chloride is gradually released from an inert core so preventing potassium levels high. This insoluble nucleus will be eliminated through feces.

Before taking Kaleidid 600mg tablets climbing and treating hypokalemia (3 blisters x 10 tablets)

    How to use

Kaleidid drugs for oral use. It should be swallowed with a cup of water to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal irritation and can be taken at a meal (better drink at the end of the meal).

    Dosage

    Prevention and treatment of hypokalemia

Use 600mg - 6gam per day (equivalent to 1 - 10 tablets), depending on the degree of reduction of potassium or prognosis of potassium loss.

This dose, if possible, should be divided into 2-3 times daily.

It is necessary to check the concentration of serum potassium regularly to adjust the dose effectively.

    Children

Efficiency and safety in children has not been established.

    Elderly

There is no specific clinical experience in the elderly, but most of the clinical rescue on humans have been implemented.

    Patients with renal failure

Should reduce the dose in patients with impaired renal function. Regularly check serum potassium concentration.

    Patients with liver failure

There is no specific clinical experience in patients with impaired liver function. The recommended dose may be used.

Note: The above dose is for reference only. Specific dosage depends on the condition and level of progression of the disease. For a suitable dose, you need to consult a doctor or medical specialist.

    What to do when overdose?

    Symptoms

Potassium overdose leads to hyperkalemia, especially in patients with renal failure.

Symptoms include: weakness, memory disorders, unusual sensations of limbs, muscle weakness, paralysis, reduction of blood pressure, arrhythmia, heart blockage and cardiac arrest. Electrical characteristics can also change.

    Dose toxic

168mmol dose, cardiac arrest can occur in younger children after taking the dose of 60 mmol.

Serious symptoms are seen after taking about 3mmol/kg of body weight, the patient dies after taking 4 - 13mmol/kg of body weight.

    Handling

empty the stomach if necessary. Use insulin and oral glucose or use polystyrene sulfate (resonium) rectal.

intravenously sodium bicarbonate or intravenously intravenously calcium chloride solution or calcium gluconate solution (10 - 20ml of 1%solution).

What to do when forgetting 1 dose?

    Not recorded.

    Side Effects

When using Kaleidid, you may experience unwanted effects (ADR).

    Uncommon, 1/1000

  • Nutrition and metabolic disorders: hyperkalemia.
  • Blood disorders and lymphatic systems: Hematology disorders affect leukocytes (leukopenia, neutropenia, granulocytes).
  • Disorders of the digestive system: nausea, stomach pain, stomach pain, flatulence, diarrhea, esophageal ulcer, stomach ulcer, duodenal ulcer, colon.
  • Skin disorders: itching, foreign rash, urticaria.
  • The obstruction of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, bleeding, ulcers or perforation of colon can occur, especially when drinking potassium chloride with less water or with patients who have moved through the gastrointestinal tract that is slowed like pregnant women or bedridden patients.

Instructions on how to handle ADR

When experiencing side effects of the drug, it is necessary to stop using and notify the doctor or go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.

    Warnings

Before using the drug you need to read the instructions carefully and refer to the information below.

    Contraindicated

Kaleidid drugs contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Sensitive to any ingredients of the drug.
  • severe electrolyte imbalance includes: hypercalcemia, hyperacture, hyperkalemia or any condition that can lead to hyperkalemia.

    Severe kidney failure.

    Adrenal impairment.

  • The esophagus is pinched, the stomach is slow, intestinal obstruction, pyloric stenosis.
  • In case of suspicion, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
  • Caution when using

Potassium chloride should be used with patients with heart disease or conditions that can lead to hyperkalemia such as kidney failure or adrenal insufficiency, acute dehydration, broad tissue destruction occurs when severe burns.

Should control potassium potassium in patients with heart failure or kidney failure.

Dosage reduction in patients with renal function.

Potassium chloride should be used carefully with patients with gastric - intestinal transportation. Treatment should be stopped if nausea, severe vomiting or abdominal pain progress.

The ability to drive and operate machinery

Potassium chloride does not have or affect the ability to drive and operate machinery.

    Pregnancy

Potassium chloride should be used carefully with patients with gastric - intestinal transportation as slow as in pregnant women. Potassium chloride can be used for pregnant women, there is no risk of being recorded.

    Breastfeeding period

Potassium chloride can be used for nursing women, no risk has been recorded.

    Medicinal interaction

Diuretics decreased potassium or angiotensin transfer enzyme and angiotensin II receptor antagonist: increases the risk of hyperkalemia.

To avoid interacting with the same medications, notify the doctor or pharmacist of medications being used before treatment with potassium chloride.

Diuretics have 2 effects, a diuretics that cause urinary loss of potassium (diuretics decreased potassium), while others cause potassium accumulation to increase potassium.

    Storage

    Store under 30 ºC.

To be out of reach of children.
