Pharmacological

lornoxicam is an nonsteroidal anti -inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti -inflammatory activity, belonging to the Oxicam group. Like other NSAIDs, Lornoxicam's analgesic and anti -inflammatory effects are associated with Prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors through the activity inhibitors of Cyclo - Oxygenase (COX).

Pharmacokinetics

absorption

Lornoxicam absorbs quickly and completely after drinking. The peak concentration of plasma is 270 µg/l, achieved within 2.5 hours after taking a dose of 4 mg. The pharmacokinetics of Lornoxicam depends on the dose when using the dose from 2 to 6 mg, twice a day. Lornoxicam absorption speed is slowed down and the absorption level decreases (20%) in the presence of food.

Distribution

Lornoxicam is found in plasma in non -change form and metabolism of hydroxylation. Hydroxylation does not have pharmacological effects. Lornoxicam's plasma protein mounting ratio is 99% and does not depend on doses.

Metabolism

Lornoxicam is completely metabolized.

Elimination

About 1/3 of the dose is eliminated through the kidneys and the remaining 2/3 is excreted through the liver.

Lornoxicam's pharmacokinetics are the same when used for elderly patients and young patients. Lornoxicam pharmacokinetics parameters are almost unchanged in patients kidney failure . There is no need to adjust the dose for patients with liver failure, except for severe liver failure.
