Pharmacokology

Nystatin is a polyene, anti -fungal antibiotic extracted from streptomyces noursei mushroom culture, yellow powder, very less soluble in water. Nystatin has the effect of restraining or eliminating fungi depending on the concentration and sensitivity of the fungus, not affecting the normal bacteria on the body. The most sensitive is yeast and has a very good effect on Candida Albicans. Nystatin does not work with bacteria, protozoa and viruses.

Mechanism of action: Nystatin has an anti -fungal effect due to the associated with the sterol of the fungal cell membrane, changing the permeability and function of the membrane, so potassium and other essential cell components are exhausted. Nystatin tolerates well even when long -term treatment and rarely cause drug resistance. When resistant to drugs, nystatin resistance is also resistant to other anti -fungal polygels. Symptoms of candidiasis will decrease within 24 - 72 hours.

The drug is used on the spot, not used to treat the whole body of candidiasis.

pharmacokinetics
