indications
OPXIL® 500 drug is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by sensitive bacteria, but does not specify the treatment of severe bacterial infections.
cephalexin is the first -generation cephalosporin antibiotic, which has bactericidal effects by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell shells. Cephalexin is an antibiotic oral, antibacterial spectrum like the first generation cephalosporin.
Cephalexin is sustainable with staphylococcus penicilinase, thus working with staphylococcus aureus strains of penicillinase to penicillin resistant (or ampicillin).
Cephalexin has the effect of printing Vitro on the following bacteria: Streptococcus beta hemolysis; Staphylococcus, including coagulase strains (+), coagulase (-) and penicillinase; Streptococcus pneumoniae; some Escherichia coli; Proteus Mirabilis; Some Klebsiella spp., Branhamella Catnrhalis; Shigella; Haemophilus Influenzae often reduces sensitivity.
Cephalexin also works on most E. coli resistant ampicillin.
Most Enterococcus strains (Streptococcus Faecalis) and a few staphylococcus strains are resistant to cephalexin. Proteus indol is positive, some Enterobacter spp., Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Bacteroides spp, also see resistant. When testing in vitro, Staphylococcus shows cross -resistance between cephalexin and methicillin antibiotics.
Dynamic pharmacokinetics
cephalexin are almost completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reach the peak concentration of plasma around 9 and 18 mcg/ml after an hour with the corresponding dose of 250 mg and 500 mg; Double dose reaches double peak concentration. Food can slow down the ability to absorb but the total amount of drugs absorb does not change. About 15% of cephalexin dose connects to plasma proteins. The half -life of plasma in adults has a normal renal function of 0.5 - 1.2 hours, but in newborns longer (5 hours) and increases as the renal function decreases.
cephalexin is widely distributed throughout the body but the amount in cerebrospinal fluid is negligible. Cephalexin passes through the placenta and excretes breast milk with low concentrations.
Cephalexin is not metabolized.
About 80% of the dosage deducting urine in the form of unchanged in the first 6 hours through glomerular filtration and excretion in the renal tubules. Cephalexin is eliminated through dialysis and abdominal dung (20-50%).

Dosage
Dosage in case of treatment:
Note: The treatment time should last at least 7 to 10 days, but in complex, recurrent urinary tract infections, chronic treatment should be treated for 2 weeks (1 g/time, drink 2 times a day).
Adjust the dose in case of renal failure: Creatinine clearance (ml/min) Creatinin (micromol/l) Maximum maintenance dose ≤ 132 1 g x 4 times/ 24 hours 49 - 20 133 - 295 1 g x 3 times/ 24 hours 19 - 10 - 10 296 - 470 500 mg x 3 times/ 24 hours ≤ 10 ≥ 471 250 mg x 2 times/ 24 hours Handling:

The effect of the drug on driving and operating machinery
The drug does not affect the ability to drive and operate machinery.
Using drugs for women during pregnancy
pregnancy
Experimental research and clinical experience have not shown signs of toxicity for pregnancy and teratogenicity. However, only cephalexin should only be used.
Breastfeeding period
Cephalexin concentration in breast milk is very low. However, it is advisable to consider stopping a temporary breastfeeding during the time when the mother uses Cephalexin.
Medicinal interaction
High -dose cephalexin use with other drugs also poisoned with kidneys such as aminoglycosides or strong diuretics (Furosemid, ethacrynic acid, piretanide) may cause more kidney toxicity.
There has been a notice of cephalexin that reduces the effect of estrogen in oral contraceptive drugs.
cholestyramin attached to cephalexin in the intestine slows down their absorption.
Probenecid increases serum levels and increases the selling time of cephalexin.
Storage
Leave a cool place, avoid light, temperatures below 30⁰C.
To be out of reach of children, read the instructions carefully before use.
