Uses

indications

Ovalax® drug is indicated in the following cases:

  • Treatment of constipation.
  • Preparation of colon X-ray. The drug has a direct effect on the intestinal smooth muscles, stimulating the nerve puppet in the intestinal wall mainly in the colon, so it increases the peristalsis of the colon. At the same time, inhibiting the reabsorption of water in the intestine, leading to increased water accumulation and electrolytes in the colon. Therefore, Bisacodyl stimulates defecation, reduces defecation time and softens stool.

bisacodyl has the main impact on the lower part of the digestive tract and does not affect the digestive process and absorption of nutrients in the small intestine.

    Dynamic pharmacokinetics

After drinking, bisacodyl is quickly hydrolyzed by the intestinal enzyme in the intestinal form to form an active form of bis (p-hydroxyphenyl) -Pyridyl-2-methan (BHPM). The plasma concentration of BHPM peaks from 4 to 10 hours after drinking, the laxative effect appears after drinking 6 - 12 hours. The laxative effect of Bisacodyl is not correlated with the plasma bhpm concentration but instead, BHPM acts at the lower part of the digestive tract. That is why Bisacodyl is formulated in the form of tablets in the intestine so that it can be released mainly in the colon - the desired effect.

Small amount of absorption drug is conjugated in the intestinal wall and liver forming the inactivated form of glucuronid bhpm. Half a lifetime of BHPM Glucuronid is about 16.5 hours. On average, 51.8 % of the drug is eliminated in feces in the form of BHPM and an average of 10.5 % of the drug is eliminated through the urine in the form of BHPM Glucuronid.

Laxatives do not help lose weight.

Prolonged medication can cause muscle tone loss, reduce intestinal activity.

may appear blood in the stool, but this condition is usually mild and recovered.

Dizziness and/or fainting have been recorded in patients taking drugs containing bisacodyl. The details obtained from these cases suggest that these symptoms are suitable for fainting when defecation (fainting due to exertion), or with vagus neuropathy reflexes caused by constipation abdominal pain, causing patients to use laxatives rather than necessarily using Bisacodyl.
