Indications

Pesancidin® is indicated in the following cases:

  • Treatment of skin infections due to staphylococcus aureus, streptococcal and other microorganisms sensitive to fusidic acid. Usually. Fusidic acid works with GR (+) bacteria such as staphylococcus and corynebacterium.

Fusidic acid inhibits bacterial protein biosynthesis but contrary to other antibiotics such as macrolid or tetracyiin, the drug is not attached to the ribosom of bacteria that inhibits a nest needed for the transport of peptid units and extends the peptide chain. The drug has the ability to inhibit protein biosynthesis in the cells of mammals but have a selective effect on the bacteria that cause sensitivity due to the drug that is difficult to enter the host cell.

Fusidic acid is very effective to fight Staphylococci, especially S.Aureus and S.Pidermis, Nocardia Osteroides and many Clostridial strains are also very sensitive to drugs. Streptococci and Enterococci less sensitive.

    pharmacokinetics

Fusidic acid has simultaneous properties of water and fat body should be very well absorbed into the skin, to the deep layers of the skin and present in all layers of skin tissue and under the skin.

Fusidic acid is well absorbed from the digestive tract. However, it is not known about the absorption of drugs when used on the spot.

Fusidic acid is well distributed into tissues and body fluids, including bones, pus and fluid.

The drug can penetrate into the brain abscess but in the cerebrospinal fluid in an insignificant amount.

The drug is found during the placenta and in breast milk. About 95% or more fusidic in the circulation are attached to plasma proteins.

Fusidic acid is reversed through bile, mostly in the form of metabolism, some have weak antibiotics. About 2% excreted feces in non -metabolic form. A small amount eliminates urine or is removed by hemolysis.
