Quincef 250 drug is indicated in the following cases:

Treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria:

Upper respiratory tract: otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis and sore throat.

Lower respiratory tract: Inflammation, acute bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.

Urinary tract: Nephritis-Pyelonephritis, cystitis and urethritis, ...

Skin and soft tissue: boils, pus disease, impetigo.

Gonorrhea: Uncontrolled urethritis due to gonorrhea and cervicitis.

cefuroxime acetyl is also taken to treat Lyme disease in the beginning.

Pharmacology

cefuroxime is a semi -synthetic antibiotic with wide antibacterial spectrum, belonging to the cephalosporin group. Cefuroxime has antibacterial activity due to synthesis of bacterial cell walls by attaching essential target proteins.

Cefuroxime has a good and anaerobic gram -negative and anaerobic activity, including most staphylococcus strains of penicillinase secretion, and has gram -negative antibacterial activity. Cefuroxime usually works for the following bacteria:

Aerobic Gram: Haemophilus Influenzae (including ampicillin resistance strains), Moraxella Catatrhalis, Neisseria Gonorrhoeea, Escherichia Coll, Klebsiella, Proteus. Epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus group b. Species).

Cefuroxime Acetyl will be absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and quickly hydrolyze in the intestinal mucosa and in the blood to release Cefuroxime into the circulatory system.

Distribution:

How to use

Dosage

Adults:

Most infections: 250mg x 2 times/day.

Urinary infection: 125mg x 2 times/day.

Bronchitis and pneumonia: 500mg x 2 times/day.

Children:

Most infections: 125mg x 2 times/day.

Children 2 years of age and older suffer from otitis media or worse infections: 250mg x 2 times/day.

Treatment time is from 5 to 10 days.

There is no need to adjust the dose in case of renal failure, the patient is making kidney feces or in the elderly, if used not exceeding the maximum of 1g/day.
