Uses

indications

Shinacin drugs are indicated in the following cases:

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Management. Dental bacteria: tooth abscess. But because Amoxicillin is easily destroyed by betalactamase, it has no effect on bacterial strains producing these enzymes.

Clavulanic acid formed by the fermentation of Streptomyces Clavuligerus, which has a beta-lactam structure similar to penicillin, capable of inhibiting beta-lactamase due to the majority of Gram (-) and Staphylococcus bacteria. Especially, it has a strong inhibition effect of beta-lactamase transmitted via plasmid that resists penicillines and cephalosporins.

Clavulanic acid helps Amoxicillin not be destroyed by beta-lactamase, and expand the antibacterial spectrum of amoxicillin effectively to many common bacteria that have resisted amoxicillin, other penicillins and cephalosporins.

The antibacterial spectrum of the drug includes:

    Gram (+) bacteria

  • Aerobic type: Streptococcus Faecalis, Streptococcus Pneumoniae, Streptococcus Pyogenes, Streptococcus Viridans, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes. Clostridium, peptococcus, peptostreptococcus.
  • Gram (-) bacteria

  • Aerobic type: Haemophilus Influenzae, Escherichia Coli, Proteus Mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, Bordetella, Neisserrria Meningitidis, Neisseria Gonorrhoeea, Vibrio Cholerae, Pasteee Multocida.
  • anaerobic type: Bacteroides, including bacteroides fragilis. The concentration of these 2 substances in the serum is maximum after 1-2 hours of taking the drug. With a dose of 250 mg (or 500 mg) will have 5 micrograms/ml (or 8 - 9 micrograms) amoxicillin and about 3 micrograms/ml of clavulanate acid in serum.

After 1 hour oral 20 mg/kg amoxicillin + 5 mg/kg Clavulanic acid, there will be an average of 8.7 micrograms/ml of amoxicillin and 3.0 micrograms/ml of clavulanic acid in serum. The absorption of the drug is not affected by food and it is best to drink right before the meal.

The oral bioactivity of amoxicillin is 90% and of Clavulanic acid is 75%. The half -life of amoxicillin in serum is 1-2 hours and of Clavulanic acid is about 1 hour. About 55 - 70% amoxicillin and 30-40% Clavulanic acid are discharged in urine in the form of activity. Probenecid extends the excretion time of amoxicillin but does not affect the elimination of clavulanic acid.
