Uses

Indications

Sorbitol 5G drug is indicated in the following cases: Treatment of constipation and indigestion.

Pharmacokological

Sorbitol (D-glucitol) is a wine with many hydroxyl groups, which has a sweet taste of 1/2 of sugarcane sugar (Sacarose). The drug promotes hydrate - chemical substances contained in the intestine. Sorbitol stimulates the secretion of cholecystokinin - pancreazymin and increases intestinal motility thanks to the penetrating laxative effect.

pharmacokinetics

Sorbitol is poorly absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract after drinking.

Sorbitol metabolizes mainly in the liver into fructose, a reaction catalyzed by sorbitol dehydrogenase. Some sorbitols can be converted directly into glucose thanks to Aldose Reductase.

A very small part of non -metabolic sorbitol is eliminated through the kidneys. The rest is excreted in the form of CO2 when breathing out during respiration.
