pharmacokinetic
absorption
Spiramycin is not completely absorbed in the digestive tract. Oral drugs are absorbed about 20-50% of the dose of use. The peak concentration of plasma is achieved within 2-4 hours after drinking.
Peak concentration in plasma after taking 1 g dose is 1 microgram/ml. The peak concentration after the single dose can be maintained for 4-6 hours. Drinking Spiramycin when there is food in the stomach greatly reduces the bioavailability of the drug. Food reduces about 70% of the maximum concentration of the drug in the serum and makes the peak time from 2 hours.
Distribution
Spiramycin is widely distributed throughout the body. The drug reaches high concentrations in the lungs, tonsils, bronchial and sinuses. Spiramycin is less penetrated into the cerebrospinal fluid.
Elimination
The average selling time is 5 - 8 hours. The drug is excreted mainly in bile. The concentration of drugs in bile is 15 - 40 times larger than the serum concentration. After 36 hours, only about 2% of the total dose is found in the urine.
