Uses

Indications

Telmisartan 40mg drug is indicated in cases of hypertension . Can be used alone or can also combine other anti -hypertension drugs.

Medicine

Telmisartan is a specific antagonist of Angiotensin II receptor in smooth and adrenal muscle. Angiotensin II is a vascular contraction agent, stimulating synthetic adrenal skin and releasing aldosteron, stimulating the heart. Aldosteron reduces sodium excretion and increases potassium excretion in the kidneys. Telmisartan prevents Angiotensin II into the AT1 receptor in blood vessel and adrenal glands, causing vasodilation and reducing the effects of aldosteron. Angiotensin II anti -receptor drugs do not inhibit bradykinin, no persistent cough effect, at the dose of 80 mg, Telmisartan completely inhibits hypertension due to angiotensin II.

Hypotension effects maintained for 24 hours and still works for 48 hours after drinking. After taking the first dose, the hypotension effect is manifested within the first 03 hours, in hypertension people, Telmisartan reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure without changing the heart frequency. Telmisartan's anti -hypertension effect is equivalent to other drugs. When Telmisartan stopped suddenly, the blood pressure gradually returned as untreated, but there was no strong increase in the phenomenon.

pharmacokinetic

absorption

Telmisartan is quickly absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, absolutely used orally depends on the dose: about 42% after taking the dose of 40 mg and 58% after taking the dose of 160 mg. Food affects the absorption, after drinking, the highest drug concentration in plasma is achieved after 0.5 -1 hours.

Distribution

more than 99% of Telmisartan attaches to plasma proteins, mainly on albumin and 1-acid glycoprotein. The attachment to the protein is constant, does not change according to the dose. The distribution volume is about 500 liters.

Metabolism - Elimination

After intravenous intravenous or telmisartan, about 97% of constant doses are excreted in biliary tract into the feces, very small amount

Hepatic failure

Telmisartan concentration in blood increased and absolutely bioavailable reached nearly 100%.
