Cystitis

Cystitis's disease overview

What is

cystitis?

cystitis is an acute infection caused by bacteria in the bladder. Cystitis is a very common disease, accounting for more than 50% of urinary tract infections. In some cases, this situation may recur many times for a long time. Cystitis can also be caused by some drugs, radiation therapy or a complication of another disease.

The most serious complication of the disease is pyelonephritis leading to renal failure. However, appropriate treatment can completely reduce the complications of cystitis. The common treatment for bacterial cystitis is antibiotic. For cystitis due to other causes, the treatment depends on the cause of the disease.

Causes of Cystitis's disease

Cystitis in particular and urinary tract infections in general are mainly caused by bacteria from the outside to the urethra. Normally, the urinary system has the structure that prevents bacteria from entering, and urine also has antibacterial properties, inhibits the reproduction of bacteria. But when the body weakens, reduces resistance, or the urethra is damaged, the bacteria have the opportunity to invade and cause disease.

Causes of cystitis include:

Cystitis due to bacterial infection:

This is the most common cause of cystitis

  • The most common bacteria that cause cystitis is Escherichia Coli (E. Coli)
  • In addition, there are other bacteria that cause cystitis such as Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Proteus, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Enterococcus Faecalis, Staphylococcus or Blue Pus Other causes of bladder infections:

  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Due to drugs: Chemotherapy drugs such as cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide
  • Due to radiation therapy, especially pelvic radiation therapy
  • Due to the catheterization
  • Due to chemicals: such as bathing with foam soap, female hygiene products or spermicide cream
  • Cystitis due to complications of other diseases such as diabetes, kidney stones, prostate hypertrophy or spinal cord damage

    Symptoms of Cystitis's disease

    Popular symptoms of cystitis are:

  • Bleeding, opaque urine or odor
  • urinate more times a day than usual, each time just urinating a little

  • Pain or a burning feeling when urinating
  • always feels urgent
  • Pain in the lower abdomen
  • back pain on either side or pain in the middle of the back
  • peeing during the day in children
  • Mild fever
  • Cystic inflammation if not treated promptly will lead to permanent kidney damage complications, especially in the elderly and children due to the signs of cystitis regularly rarely detected or mistaken for another disease.

    Transmission route of Cystitis's diseaseCystitis

  • Reverse inflammation from the urethra
  • Riddle nephritis spreads

from blood sugar: caused by blood bacteria (E.coli) or bacterial infections.

People at risk for Cystitis's disease

  • Cystitis is very common. The disease usually occurs in women more than men. More than 50% of women at least once in their lives suffered from cystitis. Once sick, the risk of recurrence or re -infection is very high. Women are more susceptible to cystitis than men because the urethra of women is very short, so the bacteria around the perineal area easily penetrate the bladder.
  • The disease may appear at any age. In men, the risk of cystitis increases with age.
  • There are many factors that increase the risk of cystitis, including:

  • Sex: Cystitis occurs in women more than men
  • age: The risk of cystitis increases gradually with age

    Long -term motionless

  • Unsafe sex
  • in pregnancy
  • Menopause

  • There are stones in the bladder, kidney stones, ureteral stones
  • Prostate hypertrophy

  • Diabetes, HIV infection or cancer treatment
  • Use a catheter for a long time
  • Due to improper hygiene, bacteria from the anus can penetrate the urethra to the bladder causing inflammation

    Prevention of Cystitis's disease

  • Drink enough daily water
  • urinating when you feel urinating, you should not hold back
  • Wipe from front to post -urination for women
  • Avoid using vaginal dactions or female hygiene pills
  • Shower, restricted soaking in a bath or bathing in a pond, rivers and streams
  • Wear spacious underwear made from cotton and should change underwear every day
  • Use tampons instead of tampon when menstruation
  • Avoid the use of a diaphragm or sperm agent
  • urinate before and after sex
  • Clean the external genitals, especially need to care for people with polio, non -control urination, diapers, ...
  • Active treatment of urinary stones, urinary tract infections, prostate disease
  • Regular body movement daily so that the excretion and urine circulation are easy
  • There is a reasonable diet to increase resistance to fight disease, especially infections
  • Diagnostic measures for Cystitis's disease

  • Cystitis can be diagnosed by testing such as:
  • Testing of total urine analysis to find pathogenic bacteria, blood and/or pus in urine
  • Blood screening
  • Image testing (X-ray, CT scan)

    Cystitis's disease treatments

How to treat cystitis depends on the cause of the disease

    Treatment of bacterial cystitis:

Antibiotics is the first choice to treat cystitis caused by bacteria. The most used drugs to treat cystitis are: amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, nitrofurantoin, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim.

  • First -time infection: Patients need antibiotics for three days to a week even though symptoms have improved significantly within a day
  • Rehabilitation infection: Patients may need antibiotics for a longer period (15-20 days)
  • Cystic inflammation is sufficient at the hospital: This case is quite complicated because the bacteria in the hospital are mostly resistant to drugs
  • For menopausal women may need additional cream estrogen.
  • The treatment of cystitis caused by other causes

depending on the cause of cystitis

  • Chemical cystitis: Avoid using chemicals that cause cystitis to reduce symptoms and prevent recurrence
  • Radiator or drug cystitis: Use drugs to reduce symptoms or drink more water to eliminate bladder stimulants Cystitis due to complications of other diseases: Treatment of background disease, increase resistance, avoid risk factors causing disease Support treatment
  • Use a towel or hot pack on the abdomen can help reduce the feeling of tightness or bladder pain.
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid drinking coffee, wine, tea, citrus juice and avoiding hot spicy foods because these foods can stimulate the bladder, causing more uncomfortable sensation. P>
