Is leprosy dangerous?

Leprosy has appeared very early from 1400 BC and it is considered a dangerous pathology because it has robbed the lives of many people in the world in which Vietnam because at that time the The scientist has not found the cause, treatment and prevention of leprosy.

In 1873, Armauer Hansen found the cause of the disease. Since then, the treatment of leprosy has been noticed and in the right direction. By 1982, the method of multi -chemotherapy was born to significantly reduce the rate of leprosy circulation in all countries around the world.

However, the number of newly discovered patients is still high, so the Phong Phong Prevention Program must still be maintained until the ultimate goal is: Paying completely leprosy.

leprosy is divided into the following forms:

  • I-IndeterMinate: This is the first or early stage of the disease.
  • tu-tuberculoid: This can have good resistance so it can go away on its own.

Intermediate (B-borderline): This form has the characteristics of the bulb and tu.

  • can (l-lepromatous): This is a heavy body, formerly known as malignant body.
  • In addition, to facilitate the treatment in the community, the World Health Organization (WHO) has divided leprosy into the following two groups:

  • PB-PAICIBACILLARY: Patients with bacteria index (Bi-bacterial index) negative and have 1-5 skin lesions.
  • Bacterial group (MB-Multibacillary): Patients with 6 or more skin lesions or positive bacteria index.

Why do people suffer from leprosy?

Causes of leprosy is caused by mycobacterium leprae belonging to the Mycobacteriaceae family.

    Characteristics of pathogenic bacilli:

  • When you get out of the bacterial body, it only lasts for 1-3 days. Multiply slow, its reproductive cycle is 12-13 days.
  • So far, this bacilla has not been cultivated in the artificial environment, so the vaccine has not been built.

    Symptoms of Wind's disease

leprosy mainly affects the skin and nerves outside the brain and the spinal cord, which is called peripheral nerves, sometimes it can also attack on Eyes and nasal mucosa.

Skin lesions accompanied by decreased or loss of sensation, including clinical images:

  • The tubers (encountered in the body of the root),

  • Interfaces, tumors (encountered in intermediate and u -tumors).
  • Peripheral nerve lesions:

  • The large peripheral nerves, or especially the cylindrical cord, rotating wire, posterior tibia ... loss of sensation (hot and cold, pain, tactile) in the skin areas Due to the dominant nerve. If not treated promptly, it can lead to disability such as: stork fingers, toes, feet, open eyelashes ...
