The different brands of methotrexate are Otrexup, Rasuvo, RediTrex, Trexall, and Xatmep.

Methotrexate is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of cancer, severe psoriasis, and severe rheumatoid arthritis. Methotrexate is available in a number of different dosage forms including subcutaneous injection (auto injector), oral tablets, oral solution, and injection.

Subcutaneous Injection (Auto Injector)

  • Auto injectors are designed for easy self-administration of a subcutaneous injection into the thigh or abdomen. Methotrexate subcutaneous injection is used once weekly for the treatment of:

  • adults with severe active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) when other types of treatment (including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS)) have been used and did not work well.
  • children with active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA).
  • severe, resistant, disabling psoriasis in adults when other types of treatment have been used and did not work well.

  • Methotrexate oral tablets are used once weekly for the treatment of:

  • severe rheumatoid arthritis
  • polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA)
  • severe psoriasis
  • Methotrexate oral tablets are also used are used as a course of treatment for patients with certain cancers, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), choriocarcinoma and similar trophoblastic diseases, Burkitt's tumor, and mycosis fungoides (cutaneous T cell lymphoma).

  • Xatmep is ready-to-use oral solution that eliminates the need for needles or the crushing of tablets, allowing for easier dosing in pediatric patients. Methotrexate oral solution is used for the treatment of children with:

  • polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA)
  • Injection
