What is the drug Bromsite used for?
BromSite (bromfenac) is an ophthalmic solution or eye drop used to treat inflammation (postoperative inflammation) and prevent eye (ocular) pain in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
Cataracts cause the lenses in the eyes to become cloudy, making your vision look blurry, hazy and even less colorful. Cataracts can also cause vision loss. Cataracts can be treated with surgery. During cataract surgery, an ophthalmologist removes the natural lens that has become cloudy and replaces it with an artificial lens called an intraocular lens (IOL). Cataract surgery can cause swelling, inflammation and pain, as well as other complications.
BromSite helps reduce inflammation and pain associated with cataract surgery.
BromSite 0.075% is an ophthalmic solution containing the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) bromfenac. It is formulated in DuraSite, a sustained-release system designed to gradually release the drug into the eye over a period of time.
One drop of Bromsite is instilled into the affected eye twice a day, starting 1 day before surgery and continuing until 14 days after surgery.
