When to take Nurtec ODT (rimegepant) depends on whether you are using it to treat or prevent a migraine.

Nurtect ODT is an orally disintegrating tablet used by adults for the:

  • Acute treatment of migraine with or without aura
  • Prevention of episodic migraines
  • When to take Nurtec ODT to treat a migraine

    For the acute treatment of a migraine - to treat a migraine attack when it occurs - take 1 tablet as needed. Do not take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours or 18 tablets in 30 days.

    When to take Nurtec ODT to prevent a migraine

    For the prevention of migraines, take 1 tablet every other day. Do not take more than 18 tablets in 30 days or 1 tablet in 24 hours.

    How to take Nurtec ODT

    Nurtec ODT comes in a foil covered blister pack. To take a dose of Nurtec ODT:

  • Make sure your hands are dry before opening the blister pack.
  • Carefully peel back the foil covering on 1 blister and gently remove the Nurtec ODT tablet. Do not push the tablet through the foil. Do not remove Nurtec ODT from a blister until you need to take it. Nurtec ODT should not be stored outside of the blister pack.
  • Immediately place the tablet under the tongue to dissolve. No water or other drink is required.
  • Nurtec ODT is absorbed quickly and can start working within an hour.
