1. WHAT ANETHAINE CREAM IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Anethaine Cream is a smooth white cream for application to the skin.
Anethaine Cream contains tetracaine hydrochloride which is a local
anaesthetic and gives prompt temporary relief from itching and stinging in
insect bites, stings and nettle rash.
2. BEFORE YOU USE ANETHAINE CREAM
Do not use Anethaine Cream
• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to tetracaine hydrochloride or any of the
other ingredients in Anethaine Cream (see section 6).
• on infants under three years of age.
• on broken skin.
• near or on the eyes.
Take special care with Anethaine Cream
• Anethaine Cream is for external use only.
• If irritation and inflammation persist, stop using Anethanie Cream and seek
medical advice.
• Anethaine Cream is not for prolonged use.
Using other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken
any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Anethaine Cream can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Ask
your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Anethaine
Cream
Anethaine Cream contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin
reactions and bergamot oil which may increase sensitivity to UV light
(natural and artificial sunlight).
3. HOW TO USE ANETHAINE CREAM
Always use Anethaine Cream exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told
you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Smooth Anethaine Cream onto the affected area of skin. Repeat as required,
two or three times daily. Wash hands after application.
If you forget to use Anethaine Cream
If you forget to apply Anethaine Cream, do so as soon as you remember and
then go on as before.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or
pharmacist.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Anethaine Cream has not been reported as having any undesirable side
effects. However, if you notice any reaction, stop using the cream and tell your
doctor or pharmacist who will advise you of the necessary action to take.
5. HOW TO STORE ANETHAINE CREAM
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not store above 25ºC.
Do not use Anethaine Cream after the expiry date that is stated on the tube
crimp and on the carton after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of the
month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via household waste. Take any remaining
cream back to your pharmacist for safe disposal. These measures will help to
protect the environment.

What Anethaine Cream contains
- The active substance is tetracaine hydrochloride, 1% w/w.
- The other ingredients are macrogol cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol,
diethylene glycol monostearate, liquid paraffin, glycerol, bergamot oil and
purified water.
What Anethaine Cream looks like and contents of the pack
Anethaine Cream is a smooth white cream which comes in aluminium tubes
containing 25g.
